Saturday night, I got to celebrate a dear friend's birthday and try something I have been curious about. FIRE DANCING! I am really inspired as I watch three of my friends wave their lit wands, gracefully moving their bodies and literally playing with fire. I finally got to try it, but better than that, I conquered one of my fears, dancing solo in front of a group of people, especially some I had never met.
I danced to a song I was familiar with, Talking Heads "Burning Down the House," and busted into some robot moves and the sprinkler toward the end, but I am in love and so glad I took the risk. All of our kids were among the audience and cheered us on. One of the sweetest things I will never forget, is as I prepared the crowd for my shyness and fire virginity, my friend's five year-old daughter screamed after I began dancing, "Amy, you know how to do this! What did you mean? You are doing it!" So sweet, so special, such a reminder that life is what I make it. Do you see the snow globe shape?

Fire-dancing?! Wow! You are officially a "bad-ass"
ReplyDelete"You are doing it." I love that. <3
ReplyDeleteHaha! Hayden knew what she was talking about, you rocked it!
ReplyDeleteYou all are sweet. Tricia, if you want to see bad-ass you should see the ladies that showed me, Heather, Kelly and Courtney:) I only had baby flames, but maybe I will work my way up. It's good to do things that scare me a little, I'm getting braver with age.
