Abiyoyo Globe: 56/365

Today I used my kids' rainbow engraving art.  I'm not much of a drawer unless I copy something.  I picked one of our favorite books, Abiyoyo, and drew the image here on page 5, illustrated by Michael Hays.  To hear this South African Lullaby and Folk Story, told and sung by the great Pete Seeger, you can check it out here.

  1. Wow! This is wonderful, Amy. I'm going to have to get this book for my children. They are a bit older than yours but we are big book lovers here and this looks like a gem.

    Love your rainbow art! :)

  3. I meant 'read' in the past tense. My kids have outgrown it :)

  6. I love that you keep challenging yourself, Amy. How awesome are you that you forge ahead with projects that are not in your comfort zone, you brave artist! I think your drawing is wonderful.

I'm excited to learn about this book too. I love me some Pete Seeger.

  7. Thanks for all the kind comments. It's nice to push myself since my brain often feels it's going to mush. I am almost embarrassed that two consecutive projects were kid books, but hey, they are good kid books!

Anyone looking for the book, Abiyoyo, you can find it at the library or paperbackswap.com is where I found our home copy since it seems to be currently out of print. I hope you all enjoy it as much as we do here! Working through one's fear about drawing or a stinky monster are all good things!
